About the workshop
Santorini
Encounters
There is, or so the cliché goes, a special bond being forged between photographers and their human subjects. For award-winning Magnum photographer photographer Bieke Depoorter the relationships she establishes with the protagonists of her photographs lie at the very foundation of her artistic practice. Thus, accidental encounters may turn into the starting point of a project, while the medium and its limits are invariably put to the test in several of her works.
During her five-day workshop, you will work on a personal project of your choice that at first glance may seem challenging and daunting. Through group and individual discussions, you will learn how to develop it further using her own practice approach.
Bieke pledges to guide you up close and personal. Working on the specific needs of each participant, she aims to turn the event into an opportunity for everyone to face challenges and doubts surrounding photography in general, or their own practice in particular.
You are encouraged to bring along existing work or ideas for future projects, which you wish to think through.
Last but not least, collaboration and team work constitute integral elements of Depoorter’s practice; elements that she aspires to infuse into her Santorini workshop.
