Santorini

How to get it closer?

This workshop welcomes artists and creators with a background in photography and other media.

We will explore the relationship between nature, the body, material and emotion, working both individually and collectively. We will experiment with the connections between photography and different forms of making. Drawing, video, writing, installation and other approaches are all welcome. Bring your own knowledge, experience and ways of working. Authentic continuity is key. The scale and physical presence of the landscape can be impressive, rough, uncomfortable or difficult to approach — but this tension is precisely where the work can begin.

The black and red rocks of Santorini provide a challenging environment that is difficult to encounter in an urban context. The raw, brutal reality of the volcanic landscape asks us to look, think and act differently — to respond to what is there, to make proposals, to improvise, and to create something unexpected.

Our collaboration will be based on an honest approach to ourselves and to others, through daily face-to-face consultations, open-air assignments, individual and group experiments, presentations and community cooking.
